HARDWICK – The Center for an Agricultural Economy is holding a public information session about its role in the Yellow Barn Project.
The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) is one of two tenants that will occupy the new building at the Yellow Barn property in Hardwick.
The information session will be held on June 10, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Hazen Union Auditorium, 126 Hazen Union Dr., so people can learn more about the project and future use of the new space. CAE will provide onsite childcare and light refreshments for anyone able to attend.
The agenda will include an overview of CAE’s work in the community and region, information on how the new spaces will be utilized, time for community input, and a question and answer session.
The Yellow Barn Project is a joint infrastructure project between the Town of Hardwick and local partners to renovate an iconic barn at the west entrance of Hardwick, and to build an adjacent 25,000 square foot structure as a critical piece of local food system infrastructure.
Cabot Creamery Cooperative will open a retail outlet in the Yellow Barn, showcasing signature cheeses as well as other local foods made by the region’s artisans.
The new 25,000 sq. ft. structure is critical to the recovery and growth of the region’s post-pandemic agricultural economy. There are two anchor tenants: Jasper Hill Farm and the CAE. Jasper Hill will consolidate inventory from scattered locations statewide. CAE will expand capacity to aggregate and distribute locally produced foods from over 100 producers.
