GREENSBORO – In the just-released issue of the The Hazen Road Dispatch of the Greensboro Historical Society, the lead story by Mateo Kehler describes the beginnings of Greensboro’s famous Jasper Hill Creamery, whose barn is featured in an image on the journal’s cover. Also included is a story about the water-powered mills in early East Hardwick and an article on the much more recent creation of the community park in Greensboro Bend. A story is included about the Caspian Lake Runaround or the Caspian Foliage Run in the 1970s and 1980s. Many other area towns are covered in the story about the Northern Rivers Land Trust. Also included are photographs, charts, and maps to accompany the articles, as well as reviews of recently published books, including Rob Merman’s “Circle of Sawdust: A Circus Memoir of Mud, Myth, Mirth, Mayhem and Magic.”
The latest volume is available at The Willey’s Store and Wilson Farm Market in Greensboro, The Craftsbury General Store and Buffalo Mountain Coop in Hardwick and the Greensboro Historical Society Museum bookstore. A searchable index for the past issues is on the society website at greensborohistoricalsociety.org under the Publications section.
