Leanne Harple has won my vote in the August 13 Democratic primary for House District Orleans-4. Here’s why.
With young kids at home and a teaching career, Leanne is the only candidate in the race who is living the largest challenge facing Vermont: To be a state where ordinary people can make a home, find good-paying jobs, and raise the next generation of Vermonters.
As a professional educator, Leanne knows our schools from the inside out and the bottom up. As a veteran of the Glover Select Board, Leanne understands what it takes for local government to balance its budget and deliver essential services to its citizens, both day-to-day and in times of crisis.
As the youngest person in the race, Leanne knows and understands the lives and needs of working people in the Northeast Kingdom today. Her outlook is shaped not by how things were thirty years ago, nor by friendships with prominent politicians from the twentieth century. Her thoughtful intelligence and life experience are what we need now in Montpelier to shape a prosperous future for all.
