The 5k Road Race and 5k Power Walk take place concurrently, starting at 9:30 a.m. for runners and 9:32 a.m. for power walkers. The kids’ one mile race (ages 6-11) follows at 10:45 a.m.

CVR will award a pair of Darn Tough socks to the top 5-year age group finishers in the 5k female, male, and nonbinary divisions. All finishers in the kids’ mile race will receive medals donated by Northfield Savings Bank. The fastest youngsters in the 6 to 8 and 9 to 11 age groups receive Darn Tough socks.

For runners and power walkers, ages 50 and up, VSGA will present gold, silver, and bronze medals to the top three male, female, and nonbinary finishers, respectively, within five-year age groups. The Northfield 5k is the Vermont Senior Games state championship road race and power walk. The event is also a qualifier for the 2025 National Senior Games 5k and/or 10k championships, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Online registration is available through August 29 at cvrunners.org. The entry fee is $25 for 5k signups and $10 for kids’ mile signups received by August 29. Race day registration is $30 for the 5k and $15 for the kids’ mile race. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at Depot Square.

Proceeds and donations from the race support Central Vermont Runners’ youth running program mini-grants, the Vermont Senior Games Association, and The Veterans Place.
