GREENSBORO – Greensboro’s Town Clerk Kim Greaves and other town staff have received confirmation that their concerns about black mold in the town hall are well founded.
Wesley Carpenter, owner of Clean and Restore Restoration was called by Select Board Member Bobbie Nisbet on Wednesday, Aug. 28, following concerns raised at the Tuesday select board meeting. He prioritized the town offices and arrived on Thursday to examine the suspected mold and take samples.
Following his inspection, Carpenter advised staff to move upstairs in the building until the test results come back and a mitigation plan can be developed, according to Greaves.
The town offices were beginning a temporary move upstairs on Tuesday, September 3. Those needing the services of town employees will soon need to enter the rear door from the parking lot where the recycling center is.
Greaves said Carpenter advised against turning on the heat as that will cause air circulation which could bring mold into upstairs rooms.
Mold in the office has been a concern for some weeks as both staff and the public have noticed a smell they connected with mold and at least one town employee has reported health issues.
