Village Expansion Committee Seeks Input

Share article

PLAINFIELD – The Village Expansion Steering Committee is looking for public input on the nature and scope of expanding Plainfield Village to include the flat land between Main Street and East Hill Road for more housing.

The committee is a group of Plainfield residents who are exploring new construction to keep housing available in town after so much was lost to the flood of July 2024.

The Committee’s stated goal is to start building infrastructure in 2025 and houses as soon as 2026. The flooding gave painful clarity to weak points of town infrastructure and this idea of building on higher ground has momentum because of that.

The basic scope of the project is to create at least 30 buildable lots initially to recoup what was lost in the flooding; to provide public utilities accessible from every lot; to build flood resilient town roads and to create an easy walking connection to the (lower) village
