GREENSBORO – The 15th Annual Caspian Challenge continues to grow each summer and is taking registrations for its classic scenic loop around historic Caspian Lake on July 26.

The race consists of a 6.8-mile loop around Caspian as well as a 5K out-and-back walk-race option for enthusiasts of all levels. The popular annual event is spearheaded by Race Director Eric Hanson and sponsored by the Greensboro Association. All proceeds go to supporting the Greensboro Community Meals program.
Jack Leger won the 6.8-mile men’s division last summer with a time of 41:16, and Sydney Shaffer won the women’s division with a time of 46:47. Holly McCormack bested the field in the 5K in the women’s division (27:17), and Greensboro’s Charlie Kehler was the top male competitor (17:08). Kehler was a state champion for both the Craftsbury Academy track and field and cross country programs before finishing his high school career a champion for St. Johnsbury Academy. Kehler now competes for St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
Prizes will be awarded in eight different age division brackets for both races. Prizes include engraved Caspian Challenge glasses in addition to Jasper Hill cheese boxes for the overall loop winners and Skida and Hill Farmstead raffle items. Kingdom Creamery ice cream and bananas from Willey’s Store will be provided to all competitors at the finish.
