The Greensboro Association Facebook page reported updated water quality testing results for Caspian Lake at 6 p.m. July 17.
Testing done Monday, July 15 showed improvement everywhere it was tested, with all results well below the 235 threshold the Association reports as being safe for swimming.
Results for the Cemetery Brook delta fell to 15 from 60 in earlier testing, immediately after the flood on July 11.
The level at the public beach dropped to 10 in the July 15 sample, from 53 on July 11.
The July 15 sample taken in the cove south of Black’s Point was just 23. The July 11 sample had tested 980, leading the Greensboro Association to note, “We wonder if the first result at this site was error or contamination of the test sample.”
In the cove north of Black’s Point, for which July 11 results were not posted, the level was zero. The Highland Lodge Beach level was not retested because it had been just 3 in the July 11 testing.
The Association wrote, “These results are more in line with the historical data. Water testing at the Caspian Town Beach will continue throughout the summer.”
