CRAFTSBURY – Join in for a hands-on field experience caring for the newest Trees for Streams plantings, Wednesday, June 17 and 24.
Volunteers will help locate and assess young trees, monitor survival, and manage invasive species and competing vegetation. These plantings act as natural filters for pollutants, stabilize eroding streambanks, reduce flood impacts, and provide shade to keep waterways cool for aquatic life. This is critical work that helps these buffers thrive in their early years.
Dates and times include Wednesday, June 17, from 9:30 a.m., to 2:30 p.m., planting along the Black River, followed by Wednesday, June 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the tributary to Cass Brook, located at Jones Farm in Craftsbury.
Closed-toe, waterproof shoes, gloves and water are required. Walking some distances and an ability to lift 25lbs or more is also required for participation. Sunscreen, bug repellant, and a hat are recommended. Lunch and tools will be available for all participants. Detailed location information and directions will be shared after RSVP.
