HARDWICK – A great deal of public interest and a wide variety of different views have been expressed regarding the future of the Hardwick Academy (HA) Bell.
In December 2023 the Hardwick Academy Hazen Union Alumni Association (HAHUAA) board announced its plan to gather consensus from HA alumni about how and where to care for the Bell and preserve its historical significance. The plan entails mailing informational and survey material to all HA alumni.
The HAHUAA board had hoped to send the mailing out by the end of January, however it is still a work in progress as we proceed thoughtfully. We are applying for a Bulk Mailing Permit that will allow us to communicate with alumni more economically now and in the future. The HAHUAA board will issue an update on a new mailing date as we know more.
The enormous feat of updating addresses for HA alumni has been possible because previous HAHUAA boards collected addresses and the Hardwick Historical Society preserved the folder they were in. Over 20 HA volunteers have recently helped the board update the roster of living alumni and their mailing addresses. We are incredibly grateful to those earlier boards, the Historical Society, and our volunteers who have made sending the survey out possible.
We appreciate our generous donors’ contributions and strive to manage funds responsibly.
