Hardwick Police Report

On December 23, the Hardwick Police Department stopped Joshua Z. LeBlanc, of Woodbury for erratic operation on Rte. 15 after a citizen had called him in as a possibly intoxicated operator. Investigation revealed LeBlanc had operated under the influence of a controlled substance after Field Sobriety Exercises and a DRE exam. The results of a blood test confirmed this evaluation. He has been charged with DUI of drugs and has been issued a citation to appear in court to be arraigned on the charge.

On Wednesday, January 31 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Hardwick Police received a report of a possible retail theft at Dollar General in Hardwick. Video surveillance shows Dana Patten, of Hardwick, taking items and walking out of the store without paying. Patten is wanted on an unrelated active arrest warrant out of Caledonia Superior Court. Anyone with information on Patten’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Hardwick Police Department.

On February 1, at 7:01 a.m., Hardwick Police, Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. The location was in front of M&M Beverage at 308 Vt. Rte. 14 S in Hardwick.

Primary investigation revealed Andrew Shepheard, of Calais, who was operating a 2020 GMC Sierra was coming out of the south end of M&M’s parking lot heading north on Vt. Rte. 14 and didn’t see Axel Lettow, of Hardwick, crossing the road, hitting him with the truck. Lettow was transported to Copley Hospital with critical injuries and then transferred to UVMMC in Burlington. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of Vermont State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
