Stolen Vehicle, Stolen Merchandise
On August 13, at approximately 8 a.m., Angela Wescom, of Johnson was stopped on Lower Prospect St. in Hardwick. It was discovered her license was criminally suspended. She was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division on September 30.
On May 12, just after 9 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department received the report of a stolen vehicle from the Mackville Road area. The victim said the vehicle, a 2018 black GMC Acadia Denali bearing Vermont registration HHK395, was last seen in Lowell just after 9:30 p.m., May 12. An arrest has been made in this case. Lilly A. Russell, currently of Hardwick, is being charged with Felony Possession of the stolen GMC Acadia listed above. She has been issued a citation to appear in the Superior Court of Vermont, Orleans Division. for September 17, to be arraigned on this charge.
On August 14, at 6:55 p.m., Colin Mercier was seen driving an ATV up Glenside Avenue. The officer recognized the operator from previous encounters in law enforcement as Mercier, whose license is criminally suspended. The officer was enroute to another call and would follow up with Mercier later. Mercier also has conditions from another case not to drive a motor vehicle. Mercier was cited into Caledonia Court on September 16, at 8:30 a.m.
On August 17, at approximately 9:34 p.m., a male stole $27.59 worth of merchandise from the Jiffy Mart on Mill Street in Hardwick. The male was identified by the store’s video surveillance system as Jordan Powers of Eden. On August 31, Powers was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division, on September 30, for the offense of retail theft.
On August 28, at 4:16 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a two-car accident on Mill Street. The officer found that both vehicles were west bound on Mill Street when a 2023 Lincoln Navigator, operated by Kathy Pacsay of E. Burke, had to stop for a turning vehicle. The vehicle behind her, a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, operated by Scott Walters of East Hardwick, didn’t see that the vehicle had stopped and rear-ended the Navigator. Walters’ vehicle suffered damage to the front bumper, hood and grill. Pacsay’s vehicle suffered damage to the trailer hitch, bumper and both side panels. There were no injuries.
On August 31, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department responded to the Tops Supermarket for the report of an attempt to use a credit card that may have been stolen. Investigation revealed one of the involved parties, Colin M. Mercier of Hardwick, had driven a truck into the parking lot while under criminal suspension. In addition to operating after suspension, Mercier had pretrial conditions of release that prohibit him from operating any vehicle on a public highway. He was issued a citation to appear in the Superior Court of Vermont, Caledonia Division, on September 16, to be arraigned on these new charges.
On August 29, at approximately 8:47 p.m., Hardwick Police responded to the Craftsbury Road in Hardwick for a car crash. The operator, Nathanial Mcghee of Hardwick, was traveling north in a 2015 Honda CRV when a deer crossed the road causing Mcghee to hit the deer. There was significant front-end damage to the CRV. Hardwick Rescue and Fire also responded to the scene.
