ST. JOHNSBURY – Craftsbury Academy (CA) and Hazen Union’s cross-country teams were back on the trail last week at the NVAC Mountain Division meet at St. Johnsbury Academy (SJA).
Andrew Thornton-Sherman (SJA) was the top runner in the boys’ 5,000m, besting Lamoille’s Zeb Whitlock by nearly a full minute with a time of 16:54.07. Whitlock took top honors in Division II. Sophomore Manny Fliegelman, a transfer from Hazen Union, posted an impressive sixth-place finish overall for the Hilltoppers. Hazen freshman Kiah Cloutier just finished outside of the top 20 overall but posted an impressive third-place finish in Division III. CA freshman Stig Linck finished sixth in Division III and junior teammate Soren Stelma-Leonard finished ninth. Freshman Sara Lund (SJA) was the top runner in the girls’ 5,000m with a time of 24:12.14. Danville freshman Sycada Barnes posted a fourth place finish in Division III.
The Wildcats and Chargers will be back in action on Saturday at the Danville Cross-Country Run Invitational.
