Cadets Strong at Mayor’s Cup

BOSTON, Mass. – Former Craftsbury Academy champion Leo Circosta and his Norwich University men’s cross-country team wrapped up their regular season in style last week, placing six of their runners in the top 20 at the 34th annual Mayor’s Cup.

The All Comers 5k last Wednesday in Boston was open to all ages and genders, with both the Cadets women’s and men’s teams running alongside each other. Circosta finished off a strong freshman regular season with a 17th-place finish. Fellow freshman Matheu Dettenrieder led the Cadets with a sixth place finish, followed by junior teammate Seth Varin in seventh. Dettenrieder has racked up five Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week awards this fall, with Circosta also earning top GNAC rookie honors after a runner-up finish in his first ever collegiate race back in August.

Norwich hosted the GNAC Championship over the weekend and will put a bow on their season at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship in Waterford, Conn., on November 16.
