ST. JOHNSBURY – Photography by St. Johnsbury native Jim Tidyman is on display in the Athenaeum Hall Gallery (second floor) through December. The artist reception with food and beverages will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, 5 to 7 p.m., in the Hall Gallery.
Photography has been a lifelong hobby for Tidyman, along with woodworking, pottery, baking, and writing. He moved from Florida to St. Johnsbury in 2011 to retire, be closer to family, and settle down in Vermont. A chronicle of Jim’s working life, “A Resume of Epic Proportions – Fifty Jobs in Fifty Years,” can be downloaded free as an e-book or audiobook from his website, jimworld.net, which includesphotos of his work.
“The selected works in this exhibit are a showcase of my photography across various themes. From the serene vastness of landscapes to the intimate details found in textures and animal portraits, each image tells a story. One of the favorite pieces in the collection is a portrait of my brother Paul coming in from the cold, which captures the raw emotion and warmth of a simple, yet profound moment,” he writes.
Photos in the exhibition will be for sale. The exhibition photos can be viewed at the Athenaeum website on the Gallery page. The exhibition and the reception are free, ADA accessible, and open to the public.
