GREENSBORO – Adventurous Nordic skiers from throughout the eastern United States will congregate in Greensboro, for the third annual Tour de Greensboro, a non-competitive classic style cross-country ski event. The course is a 25 km single loop starting and ending at the Highland Lodge with a 15 km cutoff for those who prefer not to ski the entire distance. Participants will ski a course incorporating the Greensboro Trail System and private trails, professionally groomed by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center and private landowners. This event is not for beginner skiers, as skiers must know the basic classic techniques needed for uphill and downhills and the fitness required to ski 25km or 15km. There is no event day registration, and the event is limited to 140 participants.
Each participant will receive a Toko ski hat, food station with hot cider and donuts along the route, a trail pass and chili and cornbread after finishing at the Highland Lodge. The event is a fundraiser for the Greensboro Association, which serves as a funding resource to support social, educational, municipal, and environmental projects that are important to the Town of Greensboro and its residents. Event sponsors include Tokous, Lumi Experiences, Highland Lodge, Willey’s Store, Jasper Hill Farm and Connie’s Kitchen.
