GREENSBORO BEND – The Greensboro Initiative of Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for a home-ownership opportunity in Greensboro Bend at 1119 Main Street through March 14. The project features a modern, energy-efficient duplex for two qualifying families or individuals. These starter homes will be affordable, costing less than 30% of the household’s monthly income as part of a shared equity program. Applications will be accepted beginning February 10, with two homeowners selected by July 2025. Construction will begin in Spring 2025, and the duplex is expected to be ready by mid-2026.
Eligibility requirements include, applicants must have inadequate housing; applicants agree to complete 250 hours of work on the house and participate in financial counseling and education; household income must be between 30%and 80% of the area’s median income (e.g., $30,700 to $81,850 for a family of four; applicants must live or work in Orleans County.

The Greensboro Initiative, launched in 2023, aims to provide affordable housing for working Vermonters in the Greensboro area. Over 80% of construction costs have already been pledged or received, with donors including Hill Farmstead.
