Destruction of Mailboxes

On January 11, the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department was notified by multiple complainants regarding the unlawful destruction of citizen’s mailboxes in the towns of Wolcott, Johnson and Morrisville. Explosive devices were utilized during these acts. The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department along with the United States Postal Office Inspectors and the Morristown Police Department are conducting a joint investigation. As a result of that investigation, several pieces of evidence were seized and numerous interviews were conducted. The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department believes these acts were perpetrated by several individuals. To further the investigation, the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department believes these were random acts of vandalism and not directed at any one specific person or place.
