HARDWICK — On Thursday, Jan. 9, at 9:45 a.m., Hardwick Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Church Street and North Main Street in Hardwick. The caller advised one of the involved vehicles had left the scene. The investigation revealed that Matt Hovey, of Hardwick, was traveling south on North Main St. in his 2023 Rivian truck. A red Ford Escape was traveling west on Church St. and failed to stop at the intersection. The Ford Escape collided with the Rivian truck and both vehicles ended up on the Jeudevine Library sidewalk. The operator of the Ford Escape backed up the vehicle and then proceeded forward across the Jeudevine Library lawn and front steps nearly rolling the vehicle. The operator of the Ford Escape continued south on North Main St. and left the scene. The operator of the Ford Escape was later identified as Monica Holcomb, of Hardwick. Holcomb admitted to being involved in the crash and leaving the scene. Holcomb was issued a traffic ticket for failing to stop at the intersection and another traffic ticket for operating with a suspended license. Holcomb was also issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division on February 10 for leaving the scene of a crash.
