E. CRAFTSBURY – The East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church and the Community Housing Forum will hold a panel discussion, Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the E. Craftsbury Presbyterian Church, 1173 E. Craftsbury Road.
The Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Panel will provide resources and information about ADUs with a focus on the rural area. Homeowners considering adding a rental space for income or to provide housing may come learn more about ADUs and grants available to build one.
Wendy Moran, director of Rural Edge’s Homeownership Program will speak about the grants available for homeowners and the opportunities and challenges of building ADUs to address housing needs in local communities. The panel will include three area residents who have constructed ADUs. Two of the homeowners obtained funding through the Vermont Housing Improvement Program (VHIP) grants administered by Rural Edge and the third homeowner built an ADU without state funding. Patrick Larsen of Larsen Applied Earth Science will discuss permitting and wastewater rules as they apply to ADUs.
