My Sincerest Apologies

Share article

To the Greatest Generation who are still living (all in my family have passed), my sincerest apologies that America’s leadership is failing to uphold the freedoms and power-sharing required in our U.S. Constitution through three co-equal branches of government. Our model of governance inspired the world, as did the bravery of our soldiers in the Allied forces some 80 years ago, when in the face of rogue dictators abroad you fought valiantly and endured extreme miseries and trauma to prevent the spread of fascism, concentrated power under a strong man.

Indivisible Founders Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg recently reminded us of our duty to resist Trump, who posted on White House social media last week an image of himself on a faux Time Magazine cover with a crown and the words “Long Live the King.” This was after he essentially turned his back on long-standing European allies by meeting with Russia’s strong man, Putin, and then dispatching his secretary of state to Saudi Arabia to discuss with Russian envoys the fate of Ukraine, the sovereign country invaded by Russia three years ago. Ukraine was not included in the meetings. Last weekend at the Conservative Political Action Conference, political insider Steve Bannon suggested Trump should have a third term, as reported by Newsweek.

If you think your voice in this time does not matter, because your senators or representative don’t care, you are part of the problem. Think of what that Great Generation did to expand stability and ensure freedom.

May the Indivisible founders’ words inspire you to action: “Our enemy is apathy, cynicism, and fatalism; the pernicious, authoritarian-friendly belief that we are merely victims of world events rather than active participants in a global struggle for freedom and justice. Every time one of us—a family member, a community organizer, a representative, a senator—takes a step forward in this fight, a thousand pairs of eyes watch and learn. Courage is contagious.”

We can attend a protest. We can refuse to buy goods or services from the companies of billionaires who are kowtowing to Trump. We can be part of the February 28, 24-hour nationwide boycott of major retailers who are capitulating to Trump.

 We can call Congress today and tell them to reject the “SAVE” act which would require identifications that most of us cannot easily access in order to vote. Also let Congress know you want the unelected, unvetted and overreaching Elon Musk fired Now. The number for the Capitol Switchboard-Congress is (202) 224-3121.

Do these things in honor of that Great Generation that stood up to fascism. And do it for the children in our midst who should also know the fact of a government of, by, and for the people.

    Yes, do this and more…
    Inform yourself about the structure of this so called federal government: it is a cooperate service provider(sub-contractor ) doing the people’s work because we via the 14th amendment volunteered away our unalienable Rights(endowed by our creator – nature and natures God) and became 2nd class citizens with privileges and benefits (rights) to be surfs under the king of the fed. ( the elite that appoint the kings – electoral college) in the organized crime of the District of Columbia!
    Read, and re-read the unanimous declaration of the thirteen united states of America, it gives you your marching orders as this course in human events veared from its liberating intentions almost as soon as it was born 248 1/2 years ago;
