NEK Warrior Soccer Club Opens Registration

Share article

NORTHEAST KINGDOM – February 24 to February 28 is open registration week for NEK Warrior Soccer Club (SC). NEK Warrior SC provides a soccer experience for the community focused on development and helping each player grow and improve regardless of current ability. Multi-sport athletes who are involved in other spring sports are welcome to join Warriors and play soccer when their schedules allow.
The 2025 program has three distinct phases:
The indoor season runs from March 1 to April 6. U10 and U12 teams will be sponsored in the Capital Indoor League. The indoor league is six Saturday games on artificial turf at the Montpelier Civic Center. Cost is free for club members. These teams are currently full.
Outdoor season is from late April to June. After the April school break, twice-a-week outdoor soccer will begin when field conditions allow. Practices will be at Tolman Field (four corners) in Greensboro, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons. The U12 team will play a full travel schedule in the Vermont Spring League, but there is no commitment to the travel schedule to participate. Ages U8 to U16 will play at least five competitive matches between May 14 and July 2.
Summer training camp is August 11 to 15. The full- or half-day camp for players ages 12 to 16 will be run by ChallengerSports, who bring in trained guest coaches from the United Kingdom and around the world. The most likely location will be Craftsbury. There will be an open camp registration in March with a discount for NEK Warrior SC members.
Community support is needed for use of a flatbed to relocate several large goals in April, a field management team to line and maintain club fields with equipment provided, an equipment manager to accept donations and store equipment, team managers to handle communication and scheduling for specific age groups and referees (paid a flat fee of $40 to referee a match.)
Scholarships and extra equipment are available on request.
Age brackets for 2024 are: U16 (born 2009-2010), U14 (born 2011-2012), U12 (born 2013-2014), U10 (born 2015-2016, U8 (born 2017-2018), U6 (born 2019-2020) U6 will only be three to four clinics in the late spring, no jersey or fees required. U19 (born 2006-2007-2008) players do not have a team. Those wishing to train with the club may do so and receive assistance with creating opportunities for development and competition through allied clubs.
