Goldenrose participated in the regional Poetry Out Loud competition on March 6 at the Barre Opera House. She captivated the audience with her recitations of “The Way We Live Now” by Evie Shockley and “You, If No One Else” by Tino Villanueva. Reflecting on her win, Goldenrose said: “I was introduced to Poetry Out Loud by my English teacher and have found it to be a very inspirational experience. Sharing poetry out loud changes how you understand the writing, and I think it is a wonderful way to connect with the intentions and emotions being conveyed in the piece. I was honored to participate in this event, and I really enjoyed hearing the recitations of the other contestants.”
As a regional winner, Goldenrose advances to the state finals, Friday, March 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Flynn Center Main Stage in Burlington. The event is free and open to the public. It will be live-streamed on the Flynn Center Facebook page. For more information, please contact the Flynn Center at (802) 863-5966.
