CRAFTSBURY COMMON – On April 27, at 5 p.m., the Craftsbury Public Library will present a program, “The Poetry of a Place and its People: David Budbill’s ‘Judevine.’” In the 1970s, writer David Budbill, a recent arrival to Wolcott, was inspired by his own working-class background to shine a light on the lives of his neighbors. These poems became “Judevine,” a plain-language collection that resonates with themes of rural poverty, injustice and economic and social struggle. Presented by Nadine Budbill (David’s daughter and literary executor) this talk introduces Budbill and his work, followed by a selection of his poems. This is a Vermont Humanities Council event hosted by the Library. The library is located at 149 Common Loop. For more information, call (802) 586-9683.
