FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Former Peoples Academy (PA) three-time state champ Ben Alekson won his fifth straight start on the mound for Fairfield University over the weekend to run his record to 7-1 on the season.
The big righty scattered six hits and struck out four as the Stags defeated Quinnipiac at home 15-5 last Friday. The former Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year has now recorded 105 strikeouts in his sophomore season with an earned run average of 2.77.
Fairfield improved to 33-10 on the season and will travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for a weekend series with Marist. They’ll close out the regular season next week with a pivotal series against Niagra to determine the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament.
