LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Stowe native and former Peoples Academy (PA) great Ben Alekson and his Fairfield University baseball team will enter the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship as the No. 2 seed this coming week.

The 6-2, 200-lb right hander dazzled once again in his final regular season start against Rider last week, allowing just one earned run over five innings of work. The game was postponed due to inclement weather and resumed nearly two days later. Rider swept the series-shortened doubleheader over the weekend to leapfrog the Stags for the top seed.

Alekson finished up the regular season with a team leading 8-1 record, 3.14 era, allowing just 70 hits over 83 innings of work, while striking out 70. The former Vermont Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year and 3-time state champion is 14-2 in his young career at Fairfield.

Opening round games of the MAAC Tournament are scheduled for Thursday in Pomona, N.Y. Alekson is scheduled to take the mound in the opener, where the game can be streamed on ESPN +.
