Involuntary Manslaughter, Car crash
HARDWICK – On August 11th, at 12:50 p.m., Hardwick Rescue, Morristown Rescue and Hardwick Police responded to 28 Mill Street for the report of a male who had fallen and had a laceration on his head. Upon arrival it was clear the injuries sustained by the male were of a much more serious nature and appeared to be life threatening.
Investigation revealed the male subject had been pushed through a wooden railing from a height of over 15 feet during a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend, identified as Angela J. Torres, age 59, of Hardwick. The push and subsequent fall resulted in blunt force trauma injuries to his head, torso and extremities. The male, identified as Zollie Altman III, age 65 also of Hardwick, would succumb later that day to his injuries.
On Thursday, August 21, Angela Torres turned herself in to the Hardwick Police Department and was booked for the offense of Involuntary Manslaughter. She was transported to the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury. Torres is scheduled to appear in the Caledonia Division of the Superior Court of Vermont on Friday, August 22, at 12:30 p.m.
HARDWICK – On August 18, at 11:52 p.m., Hardwick Police were dispatched to a two car accident at the intersection of Vt Rte. 14 N and Vt. Rte. 15. Christine McDonnell of Craftsbury, age 76, was southbound on Rte. 14 in her 2019 Subaru Crosstrek and was attempting to make a left turn onto Rte. 15 and collided with Cole McNaughton of Wolcott, age 19, in his 2009 Toyota Rav4 as he was heading eastbound on Rte. 15. Both vehicles received front damage. No injuries were reported.
