GREENSBORO – On July 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and the Greensboro Conservation Commission will host a day of butterflying near Greensboro. This is an opportunity to learn about butterflies in the field with the experts. No experience is necessary, just an interest in butterflies. All ages welcome, but minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Attendees will meet at a central location at 9:30 a.m., to select teams and travel in groups to various sites in the Greensboro, Glover, Craftsbury, and Hardwick area to conduct butterfly surveys for the Second Vermont Butterfly Atlas. Options for low intensity (roadside surveys, minimal walking) or medium intensity (one to three miles of walking) will be available. At the end of the day, come back together to celebrate findings and head to a local restaurant for an (optional) meal. Events will be four-plus hours but attendees do not need to stay for the whole time. Register at val.vtecostudies.org/events/
