HARDWICK – Local author Garret Keizer celebrates the publication of his new book, “Starting From Paterson,” on Tuesday, June 16, at 7 p.m., at The Galaxy Bookshop.
The essays collected in this book trace a path from the author’s Dutch-Protestant roots in a New Jersey factory town; through encounters with the people, events, and books that impacted his views on life and religion.
Keizer, who lives with his wife in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, is the author of ten books, including “Getting Schooled: The Reeducation of an American Teacher,” and “The Unwanted Sound of Everything We Want: A Book about Noise.”
A 2006 Guggenheim Fellow, Keizer is also a contributing editor of Harper’s Magazine and Virginia Quarterly Review. His essays have appeared in Best American Essays, Harvard Review, The Los Angeles Times, Mother Jones and The New Republic, among others.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (802) 472-5533. The Galaxy Bookshop is located at 41 South Main St.
