RICHFORD – The Caledonia United (Twinfield-Cabot-Danville) softball team couldn’t solve Richford last week, falling to the 2024 Division IV champs for a third time this season in the opening round of the state tournament.

Sophia Derby twirled a one-hitter, striking out 10 to earn the win in the circle as Richford raced past Cal United 13-0 at home last Wednesday. Mia St. Pierre powered the Lady Rocket offense with three hits, including a two-run triple that broke open the game in the bottom of the fifth. St. Pierre finished the day with four RBIs, Adi Chagnon added a triple and Jazzy Cunningham drove in a pair of runs in the win. Richford drew five walks on the day and stole nine bases. Alaina Robbins took the loss for Cal United as their season came to an end at 4-9.
Richford fell to second-seeded Blue Mountain 12-1 in the quarterfinals over the weekend. The Lady Bucks will face off against No. 3 Leland & Gray in one half of the Division IV Final Four. West Rutland will continue their title defense against No. 4 Proctor on the other side of the bracket.
