LYNDONVILLE – On May 8, the Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint from a concerned citizen that a woman was impaired and about to drive away with a child. A Lyndonville Police Department patrol officer located the vehicle in question and stopped it on Broad Street. The operator, Brittany Patten of Walden, displayed signs of impairment by a substance other than alcohol. A minor child was located in the vehicle inside a car seat. After further investigation, Patten was arrested for suspicion of DUI-Drugs. A drug influence evaluation was obtained. Patten initially refused to provide an evidentiary blood sample, so it was obtained pursuant to a court ordered search warrant with the assistance of Lyndon Rescue. Patten and the juvenile were released to sober parties. Patten was cited for Cruelty to a Child and DUI Drugs to Caledonia Superior Court with an arraignment date of August 24, at 8:30 a.m.
