PLAINFIELD – Central Vermont Community Radio (CVCR) that recently finished an antenna and critical broadcast gear upgrade now finds itself the beneficiary of over $40,000 in funding secured by the Vermont Access Network partnership in the FY27 Vermont State budget

The $1.89 million in annual public funding to support 24 public access stations and nine community radio stations was included in the recently passed state budget. CVCR Director Llu Mulvaney-Stanak said $90K of that funding will go to community radio and just under half of that will fund Central Vermont Community Radio.
“This was a very challenging state budget year, so this is a big win for community media across the state,” said Mulvaney-Stanak.
“It ensures our work to uplift civic engagement, respond to emergencies, provide local news and coverage of communities and keep Vermonters connected through the arts, music and culture that makes this state so special.
She noted the important support from state legislators and the administration, “Thank you to all our state lawmakers for seeing the value in what we all do. Special thanks to Secretary State Copeland Hanzas and State Senator Perchlik for being our biggest champions.”
CVCR broadcasts as WGDR in Plainfield on 91.1 FM and WGDH in Hardwick on 91.7 PM. With the new antenna upgrade, they are asking listeners across Central Vermont to help map the strengthened signal’s reach.
If WGDR comes in clearer, or it’s heard in areas where it couldn’t before, listeners may enter the location on the WGDR broadcast listener map at wgdr.org/blog/can-you-hear-us-now-map-it. All who makes an entry will be entered to win a prize from CVCR.
