WHITE RIVER JUNCTION – The top high school baseball seniors in the state capped off a sensational spring sports season with a dominating performance over New Hampshire last week in the 2026 Twin State Baseball Classic.
Vermont’s bats were as hot as the weather, punishing the Granite State 13-8 and 7-1 in a pair of seven-inning double-headers at the Maxfield Complex. Trailing 8-3 early on in the opener, Vermont outscored New Hampshire 17-1 the rest of the way for their second sweep in as many years.
Capital League reigning Player of the Year Xander Oshoniyi of Thetford Academy earned the win in the opener and was named Vermont’s Most Valuable Player. Oshoniyi led Thetford to a perfect season (16-0) this past spring and the program’s third Division III State Championship in the last four years. Fellow Capital Leaguer Ben West of North Country had an RBI single in the win. Wyatt Divers of Belmont was named New Hampshire’s MVP.
Logan Wheeler (Lyndon Institute) and Carlo Concessi (U-32) also represented the Capital League on Vermont’s Twin State roster, along with coaches Logan Cooke (Montpelier) and U-32’s Geoff Green. Carson Finn represented St. Johnsbury Academy.
