MONTPELIER – The Farmers Night concert at the Vermont State House on Wed., March 27, at 7:30 p.m., will feature an evening of traditional music by Becky Tracy playing fiddle and Keith Murphy on guitar, mandolin, piano and foot percussion.

Tracy and Murphy are leading lights in the new traditional music scene in both Vermont as well as the nation. Tracy is a fiddler with roots in the music of Quebec and Ireland as well as the dance tradition of New England. Murphy is a multi-instrumentalist and singer with a repertoire based in his native Newfoundland as well as French Canada.

The Farmers Night Concert Series is a longstanding State House tradition which goes back over 100 years to a time when lawmakers entertained themselves in the House Chamber mid-week while away from home. Artists from around the state, in genres ranging from classical music to bluegrass to barbershop, perform in the well of the House Chamber each Wednesday night during the legislative session and the concerts are free and open to the public.
