HARDWICK – Clearing skies meant seasonable daytime temperatures and cool evenings starting in the middle of last week, as high pressure was in control of our weather. A frontal system approaching during the weekend brought scattered mixed precipitation and a return to below-normal temperatures, with lows Sunday night in the 20s. Passage of the cold front also brought a brief transition to snow showers in some locations. Little, if any, accumulation was noted.
We are now looking to repeat that process all over again, as we’ve seen slowly moderating daytime temperatures, cool nighttime temperatures, and clear skies. Our next frontal system approaches today with precipitation initially falling as light rain, before transitioning to snow as the freezing point parallels the frontal boundary. We could see a brief snow squall, followed by some lingering snow showers during the afternoon. Accumulations will be less than two inches. That system quickly clears out overnight, giving way to a sunny day on Thursday with cooler temperatures again.
High pressure remains the dominating feature through Saturday, which means we’re in for sunny skies and moderating temperatures. Another storm system approaches slowly from the west for Saturday evening through Sunday, with some scattered rain showers. The associated cold front with this system will stay west of us, meaning temperatures will continue to warm through the weekend. Here are the details of the forecast:
