The Local Folk Orchestra performing a “Concert for Peace” Sunday afternoon, April 28, at St. Norbert’s Church in Hardwick. Roy MacNeil led performers at all points in their musical journeys to support his vision of creating opportunities for both performers and audiences to experience excellent, truly home-grown music. The orchestra was joined by Greensboro Bend’s St. Michael’s Church Choir, the St. Norbert’s Community Handbell Choir, and Maria Schumann leading Shape Note Hymns. Music covered a wide range of music from a Bach “Brandenburg Concerto” to a 12th Century tune that is among the first ever written down, to the Beatles’ “Let it Be,” Weather Report’s “Birdland” and “Let There Be Peace of Earth.” The performance concluded with Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” The performance was organized by The Civic Standard with a dinner afterward prepared with the help of The Village Restaurant.
