CITRUS SPRINGS, FLA. – Gale Alma Squires, 73, of Citrus Springs, formerly of Hardwick, Vt., died Friday, May 10, following many years of declining health. Her husband Dennis was at her side.
She was born October 20, 1950, in Hardwick, the third of six children born to the late Ellis A. and Lillian (Hill) Richardson. She graduated from Hardwick Academy in the class of 1968 and continued her education at Johnson State College in Johnson.
On July 12, 1969, she married Dennis Richard Squires at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Hardwick, where they also, made their home for several years before relocating to Antrim, N.H., where they raised their two daughters.
Gale was a valued employee and manager at several Ames Department Store located in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. She took great pride in her work which also included remodeling, upgrading, and troubleshooting for the company. She retired due to a work-related injury.
She was a member of St. Norbert’s Church in Hardwick. Her family was her pride and joy. Gale enjoyed camping, traveling and her home in Florida.
Survivors include: her husband Dennis Squires of Citrus Springs; two daughters, Allison Wildes and her husband, Walter, and Nicole Faulkner and her husband Jonathan, all of Antim, N.H.; four grandchildren, Maxwell Wildes, Katherine Wing and husband, Andrew, Kyle Nutter and wife Madelynn and Kelsey Nutter; a step-grandson Maxwell Faulkner; two great-grandchildren, Everlyn and Addleigh Wing; five siblings, Brenda Bolieu, Dian Holcomb, and Gary Richardson all of Hardwick, Michael Richardson of Homosassa, Fla., and Mary Thompson of Greensboro Bend and Florida; one aunt Lorraine Hill of Hardwick, several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
She was predeceased by infant twins in 1972 and her parents.
All services will be held later with a time and date to be announced.
