HARDWICK – Writer Sydney Lea will be at The Galaxy Bookshop on Wednesday, May 29, at 7 p.m., to read from two new publications. This year, the octogenarian writer has published a new novel, “Now Look” and a book of essays, “Such Dancing As We Can,” and is celebrating the reissue of his essay collection North Country Life, originally published in 2013.

A former Pulitzer finalist, Sydney Lea served as founding editor of New England Review and was Vermont’s Poet Laureate from 2011 to 2015. In 2021, he was presented with his home state’s Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. Prior to this year, he had published twenty-four books, encompassing 16 poetry collections,  a novel, and eight volumes of essays.

“Now Look” is a novel about second chances, missed chances, and redemption set against a backdrop of the remote northern Maine wilderness, fishing, hunting, and the pleasures of outdoor life. “Such Dancing As We Can” is a compendium of one man’s ponderings on the events and changes in this world over the course of eighty-one years.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (802) 472-5533 or visit galaxybookshop.com for a full schedule of events.
