“Low Sun” by Stephanie Gordon

The Northeast Kingdom Artisans Guild, Backroom Gallery will feature the mixed media encaustic paintings (painting with molten wax) of artist Stephanie Gordon from July 13 through August 20.

Gordon was struck by the beauty and luminosity of an exhibit of Fayum mummy portraits created with encaustics at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and resolved to master this ancient and versatile medium. Having used the medium for 10 years, she now teaches classes in painting with encaustics. Gordon is a practicing artist and art teacher who has worked in many media and taught people of all ages.

There will be a reception with the artist on Final Friday, July 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The NEK Artisans Guild is located at 430 No. 2 Railroad Street and is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
