To the editor:
We are fortunate to have several solid Democratic candidates for the Orlean-4 House seat. The three issues I ask them to address are:
1. A broken education system that graduates student with lower test scores while annually increasing education taxes with decreasing student enrollment.
2. The state’s failure to generate an economic environment that produces higher paying jobs to handle Vermonters’ higher costs of living.
3. A changing climate that threatens our agriculture and recreation economy as well as our natural environment.
After talking with the candidates plus studying their priorities and experience, I have decided that David Kelley is best qualified to serve our community. He has identified the same issues and priorities as I have. His wealth of qualifications include being the attorney for 33 rural school districts as well as many Vermont loggers and farmers, serving as a Hazen Union school board member plus a Greensboro Selectman and co-founding the Vermont Wildlife Coalition. Finally, his years of working with and within state agencies will allow him immediate access to decision makers so he can influence state agencies, policies and future legislation.
