ST. JOHNSBURY – The League of Women Voters of Vermont (LWVVT) hosted an in-person candidates forum for the two candidates running for the Senate in Caledonia County on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum.
Candidates for the single-member Caledonia district Senate seat are five-term state representative Scott Beck and Amanda Cochrane, executive director of Umbrella, the leading domestic violence advocacy organization in the Northeast Kingdom.
Both Republican Scott and Democrat Amanda are from St. Johnsbury and are vying to fill the seat vacated by long-time Senator Jane Kitchel, who retired after 20 years in the legislature.
The event was live streamed on Kingdom Access Television (KATV) via YouTube where a replay can be seen at youtube.com/live/lhqch19Srb0?si=7Wq9oy1KvSTlYKQ
This candidate’s forum was the first of many planned by the LWVVT to help voters make decisions in the November General Election. Candidate forums are being planned for the Governor, Lt. Governor, Treasurer, and U.S. Senator positions.
