HARDWICK – Donald Cecil Williams, 77 of Hardwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 2.  

Born at his childhood home in Hardwick on November 15, 1946, he was the eldest son of the late Lillian and Cecil Williams. 

In 1964, he married the love of his life, Ethel. They built their home on Marsh Road in Hardwick where they raised their three daughters and he had 58 years of memories with his loving family. 

During 1966, he attended culinary school in Barre to become the second chef at National Life for the Corti Brothers Food Service for many years. He was later inducted as the youngest member of the Vermont Chef Association. He was also a proud member of the Free Masons and a Shriner.

He left his culinary career to work alongside his father at Williams Garage and Salvage, and later purchased the business.

Other hobbies include hunting with his grandsons, trapping, fishing, riding to Wolcott Pond with his dog Knight, and training and showing his Morgan stallion. He had a love for all horses and enjoyed trail riding with his three daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel of 60 years, his eldest daughter Lori and husband Chris Bressette of St. Albans; youngest daughter Diana Williams of Bangor, Me.; son-in-law Andy Fecteau of Wolcott. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ryan, (Amanda) Fecteau and their children Hudson, Harper and Hannah of Danville; Dillan (Cierra) Cafferky of Hardwick; Ashley Brown and son Kolton of Bangor, Me.; Amber (Adam) Allen of Wolcott; and Taylor Brown and girlfriend Rebecca of Hardwick. He was survived by his brothers Stanley and Stephen Williams, sister Vicky Niles. nephews Justin and Jason Niles, Craig Fowler, Brent Fowler, and niece Karen Wescom.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Lisa Fecteau; sister, Carol Fowler; and brother, Douglas Williams. 

There will be no public services. Contributions in Memory of Donald Williams may be made to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, 198 Farr Ave., Morristown, VT 05661.
