To the editor:
The Hardwick Children’s Holiday Project 2024 kicked off its 24th year of providing donated gifts of: toys, games, books and hats and mittens to area families with children birth to 17 years in need of assistance, so they may continue a tradition of holiday giving. For 24 years, a small group of volunteers have collected and distributed these donations to families from throughout the OSSU (Hardwick, Craftsbury, Greensboro, Greensboro Bend, Stannard, Woodbury) and Walden. From now on, Wolcott families will be served by the Lamoille Family Center.
Fourteen years ago, the Holiday Project found a home at the United Church of Hardwick, but due to Covid-19, we needed to change things up, and we discovered it runs more efficiently by setting things up at Lottie Allen’s house, though we still use the church’s mailing address to receive donations. As we did the last four years, boxes will be put together by a small number of volunteers and families will be given a time to pick up their gifts at Lottie’s house on South Main Street in Hardwick, on Saturday, Dec. 1. Parents are asked to be very specific in what they ask for, for their child. We can’t guarantee they will get exactly what they ask for, but we are going to try our best.
Please consider a donation to help us give children a gift for Christmas. If you have any questions, you can call Lottie at (802) 793-9131, or Lee Ann at (802) 274-3741.
