Schumann’s “The Christmas Story,” Dec. 20

Share article

GREENSBORO – Peter Schumann’s “The Christmas Story” will be presented Friday Dec. 20, 7 p.m., at the Greensboro United Church of Christ.

The show, presented by The Bread and Puppet Theater, was created by Schumann in 1962 at a residency in Putney, and performed every year at Christmas time until the mid 1980s. The puppeteers are reviving and updating the show to reflect the current political situation.  A hand puppet angel, a donkey of burlap and plywood, a monstrous King Herod, a surprise Nativity scene: all make this show a holiday event. A portion of donations at the door will benefit the Hardwick Area Food Pantry.   Bread and aioli will be served.  For more information, call (802) 586-2059, or emai [email protected]
