ONLINE – Willem Lange’s reading of “A Christmas Carol” produced by Lost Nation Theatre (LNT) at City Hall Auditorium Arts Center in Montpelier has been recorded for on-demand viewing until December 31 at 11:59 p.m.
Yankee storyteller Willem Lange was live on stage at Lost Nation Theater performing his reading of “A Christmas Carol: a ghost story” by Charles Dickens.
Lange uses the cutting of the novel Charles Dickens himself used when performing the tale.
“Christmas is my time to howl because it means a lot to me,” says Lange.
His annual readings of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” began in 1975 and continue unabated. He’s published several audio recordings, nine books and received four Emmy nominations, winning one for his work as the long-running host of New Hampshire Public Television’s award-winning show “Windows to the Wild”.
Lange’s 2024 reading is the fourth year hosting the LNT performance. The tradition began in 2020 during the pandemic, using the LNT stage as a sound stage to broadcast Lange’s solo perfrormance to folks at home, and keep his then 45-year “streak” (or tradition) of performing Christmas Carol uninterrupted.
Lange supports one of his favorite non-profit organizations through this performance, The Haven homeless shelter/antipoverty group in the Upper Valley.
