HYDE PARK – On Saturday, Jan. 11, at noon, at the Lanpher Memorial Library, the benefits of native species in the home landscape will be explored with Denise Ciastko. The event is an exploration of the advantages native plants bring to home landscapes. Drawing on over 30 years of hands-on experience, this lecture will introduce the beauty, resilience and ecological importance of true native species. Topics include creating rain gardens and selecting the right native plants, understanding the unique roles of native plant communities, and recognizing the characteristics that make each plant essential to pollinators. The one-hour event includes an opportunity to ask questions about working with native plants.
