CABOT – Dr. Jennifer Blake has been offered a two-year contract by the Cabot School Board based on a recommendation from Superintendent Matt Foster, said a notice in a January 10 Cabot School Newsletter.

“The board and administration have been extremely impressed with Dr. Blake’s performance as our interim principal. Our superintendent also conducted a survey of the Cabot staff regarding our current administration, and the results were overwhelmingly positive. We feel very fortunate that Dr. Blake has agreed to continue the great work she has started here at Cabot.”

The note from the school board said, “Please join me in congratulating Jennifer on this well-deserved selection. We look forward to her leadership and the continued positive impact she will have on our school community.”

“I am happy to announce that the preparation of our new middle and high school recreation room/lounge is progressing well,” said Interim Assistant Principal Eric Nelis. “We should open during the last week in January.” The room will offer ping-pong, foosball, basketball, table shuffleboard, board games and a space to work and study outside recess times.

Nelis added, “We are continuing to develop activities to offer our middle and high school students more diverse and constructive activities. A couple of after school opportunities are in the works.”

The Cabot ice rink is open to the public for the season. There are skates available in the rink storage cabinets for anyone to use, free of charge. “Skating can be slippery business, so please be careful and wear a helmet” warned the newsletter..

The high school Geometry and Architecture class is looking for someone with home design or building skills to critique students’ house designs a few times in person this school year. For those interested, contact the math teacher at [email protected]

The after-school program has not started back up after winter break. The school is searching for a new after-school and summer director, indicating they will notify the community when staff is hired.
