Kendall Fowler led a balanced Lady Trojan attack with a game-high 16 points in a decisive 60-35 win at Northfield last Tuesday. Jorja Washburn added 12 and Carley Mancini chipped in with 11 in the win.
Northfield suffered its sixth straight loss to start the season.
Chloe North poured in a season-high 15 points to help the Lady Trojans fend off an upstart Danville team on the road Thursday 43-41. Washburn had another strong 12-point effort and Fowler scored eight of her nine points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of late three-pointers to help erase a four-point deficit. Lauren Joncas and Myah Morgan led Danville with 11 points apiece in the loss. Morgan also pulled down 13 rebounds as the Lady Bears fell to 1-5.

“We knew we would get a tough test from Danville on the road. It’s a rivalry game, the girls know each other well, and they came out with some intense pressure from the tip. We got the shots we wanted throughout the game, but just didn’t execute the way we’re capable of. Credit to the girls for sticking to the game plan and grinding out a tough win in the end. Chloe is really starting to become confident shooting the basketball and that gives us another important scoring threat around Kendall, Jorja, and Carley. Birtu Lindert-Boyes continues to improve and impress underneath as just a sophomore. Tiffany Benoit is doing a terrific job building up that young program,” said head coach Jack Whalen.
Twinfield-Cabot’s three-game win streak came to an end on Saturday, as PA escaped with a 45-39 road win to sweep the season series. Former Hazen alum Rick Welcome has his young Lady Wolves program going in the right direction with a 3-2 record in his first season on the sidelines. He has four eighth graders on the roster, led by rising star Daisy Berg.

“Believe it or not this was our first home game of the season, and we knew it was going to be a low scoring grind against a very athletic PA team. We held a lead for most of the game, but they hit their shots down the stretch, and we didn’t. We did a good job of containing Berg for the most part, and we made them work to find other options. The girls executed the game plan perfect and I’m really proud of how they played. Mark Mooney continues to be such an asset for us on the coaching staff and this group of girls are relentless and so fun to coach. They just played four games in eight days and they’re ready to tackle the next challenge. Our tough schedule is making us battle tested. This group doesn’t have any egos, and I look forward to watching them grow as a team as we get into divisional play,” said Whalen.
The Lady Trojans sit in the #4 spot in the current division IV rankings. They will welcome a tough Richford team to town for an afternoon showdown Saturday.
