BARRE TOWN – Sean Patrick Braddee, 54, passed away at UVMC palliative care on January 28, with family by his side. He was born on January 16, 1971, to Earl Braddee and Charlotte (Sherry) Stone Braddee in Burlington.

Sean grew up on Allen Street in Barre with his parents and sister, Tracy. He attended Barre public schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in the Class of 1989. While in high school Sean participated in football, basketball, wrestling and lacrosse. He was also active in drama club. He was a natural athlete and a lifelong sports fan. His life dramatically changed with the creation of ESPN.

After graduating from high school Sean attended Thomas College in Maine. In his sophomore year he transferred to Worcester State College in Massachusetts where he played football. After college Sean moved to Florida where he worked at Planet Hollywood at the Disney World Resort, as a bartender. Sean’s friendly and infectious humor made him a favorite with everyone. He was always ready to share a joke, game scores or what was happening with his beloved Notre Dame basketball or football teams. Like his mother e was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, contrary to his father’s lifelong love of the New York Yankees.

Sean moved to Mesa, Ariz., to continue his work and shifted his focus to hospitality management. While in Arizona, Sean worked with the strength coach of the Arizona Cardinals. One of his favorite activities throughout his life was to go to the gym and work out. Sean loved everything about sports, as a fan, a player or coach. Sean would eventually pack up his beloved cat, Miss Boots, and return to Vermont. He loved and missed Vermont. He wanted to be closer to his family and he appreciated the colder weather. Sean worked at several restaurants and resorts in the Waterbury and Stowe area. Sean will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness and his love of people. He shared a deep love of animals and underdogs.

Sean is survived by his father, Earl Braddee and stepmother, Mary Wheeler of Hardwick; stepfather, John Potvin of Graniteville; sister, Tracy Braddee Cole (David Toth) of Ivins, Utah; stepsister, Rachel Michaud (Dana) of Hardwick; and sister, Katie Braddee of Bend, Oregon; son Devin Maloney of Windermere, Fla. Sean also leaves special aunts, uncles and cousins. Sean will be missed by his nieces, Lauren Cole and fiancee, Sal LoMedico, of Harrison, N.Y., and Shannon Cole of Brookline, Mass. Sean also leaves his friends, Brooke Billings and Dexer of Greenville, N.C., Brian Cole of Tyngsboro, Mass., and George Philcox of Hardwick.

Sean was predeceased by his mother, Charlotte (Sherry) Braddee, paternal and maternal grandparents. Sean will be deeply missed but his memory will live on through all those he touched with his kindness, humor and love.

A memorial service will be held in Sean’s honor at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, beginning at 1 p.m. A private, family burial will be held in the Spring. Sean will be laid to rest near to his mother in North Branch Cemetery in Middlesex. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that donations be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 Vt. Rte. 14S, East Montpelier, VT 05651 in Sean’s memory.
