GREENSBORO — A snowshoe and ski tour of the Greensboro section of the Black Hills timber land, will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 10 a.m. The tour will follow groomed, looped trails, leading down to Mud Pond and around the remote piece of woods. Expect to see signs of wildlife and nature in winter.
Visit glovertrails.org/black-hills-trails/ and follow the directions to download the AVENZA program and a map of the Black Hills onto a phone. The downloads require internet, but then your phone will display the map with you as a blue dot on it, even without cell service if you have a well charged battery. The entrance is on Black Hills Drive off Highlander Street. Enter Highlander Street from Hillcrest Road in Greensboro: the end towards Route 16 is not plowed in winter. The road and parking lot are plowed, though four wheel drive is recommended. Otherwise meet at the West Glover Church at 9:30 a.m. and carpool or caravan from there.
